Pregnancy, childbirth and the post-natal period can be a confusing time for any woman trying to work out what is normal for you and what you need to address. With so much conflicting advice out there let us take some of that stress away from you.
You may have ongoing symptoms following pregnancy or new symptoms that have
developed that are preventing you from getting back to normal activities. A post-natal check up can help give you the confidence to get back to doing the things you love safely.

"Lesley is an experienced Chartered Physiotherapist that is registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). She has undergone additional training through the Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP) to enable her to undertake internal examinations to assess the function of the female pelvic floor and remains a current member of the POGP register. Having worked across London and Scotland she is able to help all ages and abilities return to their normal activities as soon as possible.
Her passion for lifting places her in an ideal position to support women looking to return to sport and activities post childbirth and give you practical advice to allow you to excel in whatever you wish to do."

"I visited Lesley at Zenith for a Postpartum MOT. My little girl is now 7months and it felt like a good time to have some "me" time and check that I was recovering well from my 2nd pregnancy.
I enjoyed a complication free pregnancy and had an enjoyable birth experience, so I was unsure as to whether this would benefit me, but it absolutely did!
Lesley asked questions to make sure she knew as much detail as possible from of all my pregnancies. She listened to it all and she did so in a way that made me feel comfortable while sharing a personal experience.
Lesley had me perform some stretches so she could observe my movements and she checked my stomach muscles to make sure I had no separation.
We then discussed the pelvic floor, but before we even discussed what exercises to do, Lesley shared her knowledge and what not to do. She then talked me through exercises which I will benefit from and I will hopefully be able to sneeze and cough without crossing my legs this winter!
Since my 1st pregnancy I have experienced lower back pain, especially when exercising and I am often cautious when lifting heavy weights. Lesley was able to talk me through what was causing the tightness in my lower back and what exercises I can do to help strengthen it.
After my appointment Lesley sent through my pelvic floor exercises and she shared what exercises I can do during my PT at Zenith to strengthen my back.
After having a baby you come across many different people who are there to support you and your baby, but the Postpartum MOT is truly just for mums. It's about you and how to support your recovery after creating a tiny human. Lesley makes you feel at ease throughout and is incredibly knowledgeable.
